Abstract

The article analyses and discusses the controversial problem of euthanasia from a psychological perspectiva. It considers various contemporary conceptual matters and tendencias implicated in the problem of facing death. After taking into account some psychological aspects implied in the decisions taken in relation to euthanasia, it is suggested that the psychologist can contribute actively in the assitance to the dying. In the conclusions the author is inclined to favor the use of Ortothanasia instead of Euthanasia.The study is part of a research project involving scientific, teaching and extension aspects of the death problem.
