To communicate an innovation associated with teaching biology and genetics, this article systematizes a pedagogical experience implemented between March and August 2023 with high school seniors in Salamanca, Coquimbo Region, Chile. Students recovered cellular and molecular biology knowledge from a didactic sequence based on developing a culture of thinking. They produced and developed strategic thinking for their study through graphic organizers and argumentative practices. The results suggest the achievement of deep types of thinking that mobilized scientific competencies, which may inspire other educators.
