Notes on hysteria

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to problematize and comment on some of the most outstanding aspects of the concept of hysteria. For this, a brief historical review of the appearance of the concept will be carried out and the first approximations of psychoanalysis will be commented, fundamentally, in the work of Freud.

In a second moment, a review of some of the most important problems that arise in the therapeutic work with hysteria will be carried out. This is done from the contributions that Lacan made in the French school of psychoanalysis. From this perspective, four types of difficulties are mentioned that occur in clinical work with hysteria and that are related to four concepts typical of psychoanalytic theory: countertransference, transference, resistance and sexuality.
